Þýðingar.is is committed to protecting your privacy and all personal data is handled in accordance with the company’s Privacy Policy, as well as the company’s obligations pursuant to Iceland’s Act on Data Protection and the Processing of Personal Data, and the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation of 2018.

 

Purpose

Þýðingar.is places great importance on the correct and fair handling of personal data in accordance with applicable data protection legislation.

This policy is intended for clients, employees and contractors to ensure that the parties concerned are aware of the obligations of Þýðingar.is in the handling of personal data when necessary for the operation of the company. All employees and contractors of Þýðingar.is have undertaken to comply with the Þýðingar.is Privacy Policy in all their work on behalf of the company.

Þýðingar.is is an Icelandic language service provider providing translation, localisation services, proofreading and dictionaries for a worldwide client base in various languages, with a core focus on translations from and into Icelandic. The offices of Þýðingar.is are located at Laugavegur 11, Reykjavik.

As such, Þýðingar.is acts as data controller for the processing of personal data, including sensitive personal data, in the following contexts:

  • Þýðingar.is stores and processes content for translation that may contain sensitive personal data of individuals
  • Þýðingar.is stores personal data of its own staff, and those applying for positions at Þýðingar.is
  • Þýðingar.is may store and process personal data of its contractors, including individuals and staff of other language service providers
  • Þýðingar.is may store and process data of its clients’ staff

Þýðingar.is reviews its privacy policy annually and places great importance on updating and improving it if any questions arise.

Data Retention

Þýðingar.is will ensure that each type of personal data will be retained no longer than its documented data period.

 

Requests to Be Forgotten or Right to Erasure

Individuals and businesses have the right to have personal data erased, although this right is not absolute. Þýðingar.is will respond to all reasonable requests within 1 month of receiving them, free of charge. Þýðingar.is will verify the validity of all requests and subsequently erased the personal data stored by the company or with a third party. If storing of personal data is necessary for Þýðingar.is to fulfil its contractual obligations, such data will not be deleted.
